Becton Dickinson (NYSE:BDX) filed a lawsuit against Stryker (NYSE:SYK) this week, accusing it of patent infringement on its PureWick female external catheter.

The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware on August 12, accusing Stryker's Sage Products subsidiary of infringing on two patents involving PureWick equipment and Sage's PrimaFit equipment. The device was purchased for a price of US dollars. CR Bard proposed to acquire PureWick in June 2017 for a milestone of US$10 million in cash and US$20 million; later that year, BD acquired Bard for US$24 billion and acquired PureWick.

According to the lawsuit, Sage representatives met with PureWick in June 2016 to discuss a possible acquisition, but negotiations ended a year after the Bard acquisition. The complaint stated that by October 2017, Sage launched PrimaFit.

According to the BD lawsuit, PrimaFit infringed 19 claims in one of the Purewick patents and 14 claims in the second patent.

BD, located in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, hopes to rule on the direct and indirect infringement of these two patents, a permanent injunction prohibiting further infringement, damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, triple damages for deliberate infringement, supplementary damages and the law Expenses, according to complaints.
